Yuki Sumitomo, MA, BCBA | Special Education Advocate + Behavior Analyst
Yuki brings over 17 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, Yuki is certified by UCLA as a PEERS provider for Adolescents.
Her journey began in 2007 as a direct behavior interventionist, delivering early intervention services in both school and home settings. Driven by her passion for supporting neurodiverse children, she pursued advanced training in behavior analysis, earning her board certification in 2013.
Before transitioning to her current role as a special education advocate, Yuki served as a Director for school-based ABA programs at a Nonpublic Agency and as a behavior consultant for a school district. She also founded a company dedicated to fostering the social development of individuals with diverse abilities.
Today, Yuki focuses on advocating for children’s educational rights and empowering families to access essential services for academic growth within schools. Her extensive background underscores the significance of effective communication, collaboration, inclusive practices, behavioral support strategies, and navigating the IEP process. She applies these skills to help students achieve their educational objectives and maximize their full potential.
Yuki has completed the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) Special Education and Advocacy Training (SEAT) 1.0 and is currently enrolled in SEAT 2.0.
She resides in the South Bay with her husband and two young daughters. In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, beach outings, and cherishing moments with family and friends.
